Tonnage is a measurement of internal volume, not weight.
Two main types:
- Gross Tonnage (GT)
- Net Tonnage (NT)
Flags may require:
- Initial Tonnage Survey
- Safety Equipment Survey
- Hull & Machinery Survey
- Radio Survey (for commercial vessels)
